Delhi Chapter Meetup
July 9, 2013
Being an entrepreneur means being on your toes and being prepared to catch every opportunity which comes your way even at the most unexpected place like an elevator. Meeting someone who you have been trying to meet unexpectedly is an opportunity and one has to be prepared to sell your idea on the spot.
Ranjana Deopa, Co-Founder, Altavis & Biz Divas very interestingly prepared budding entrepreneurs for the same.
The art of elevator pitch is a skill which is not easily mastered, but Ranjana equipped them with the basic guidelines in a very fun and interactive manner. Often, one starts blabbering instead of pointing out exactly what it is they do and why others should buy into their idea.
It seems difficult to condense your years of work in a minute presentation, Ranjana introduced the entrepreneurs to tools and guidelines which helped everyone there to craft a great elevator pitch.
The pitch needs to be such that the other person can relate to it. You should sound credible and engaging enough for the person to get back to you. Also make sure that you leave an impression as a believable business owner and not an outspoken stranger.
Passion and energy to introduce your idea works wonders for the listener. One can leave out details in the beginning as too much order zithromax 500mg online information could make people uninterested. A big learning was that corporate jargon is a big no, until you are absolute sure about your audience.
Also, one elevator pitch does not work for everyone. One has to have multiple versions prepared. You have to be prepared to be able to modify your pitch to fit the environment and the audience.
Positive words like ‘help’ and ‘collaborate’ are quite important part of an elevator pitch. Your value proposition and your reason to connect with the person needs to clear at the end of your pitch. Your pitch is the explanation of what you do, who you do it for, how you add value and why and how people should engage with you.
Ranjana led participants that came from different walks of life, to the art of presenting Elevator Pitch for their respective ventures. Individual challenges and questions were discussed and one on one help was provided wherever required.
